As mentioned last year, some of our donors ended their relationship with villages near Nablus
and no longer raised money for FONSA.
We have successfully found other sources of income but continue to review and revise our fundraising efforts.
We have been able to maintain our projects and our support for students at university in Nablus.
|Brief statement on the charity's policy on reserves||We do not keep reserves but we maintain sufficient funds to meet longer-term projects and seek to fund students until the end of their course (subject to satisfactory performance and continuing need).|
|Details of any deficit||There was a small deficit this year as we pay for long-term commitments and reduce our accumulated funds.|

Our fundraisers have generously covered all their costs and therefore FONSA has received 100% of the donations made in support of their efforts.
The trustees have not received any remuneration or expenses for their contributions to FONSA.
Our Independent Examiner also donated his time without payment.

As required by OSCR, a more detailed version of these accounts and relevant bank statements were submitted to our Independent Examiner. He reviewed them and reported that he was satisfied.
The Annual Report, including the report from the Independent Examiner, was duly sent to OSCR as required by law. Our Independent Examiner works in financial management (and was recommended to FONSA by our previous Independent Examiner). Although he is known to some of the trustees, he plays no other role in FONSA and is not related to any of them.
FONSA is a small charitable trust formed to strengthen bonds between people supportive of Palestian human rights and the people of Nablus and its surrounding areas. It is based on friendship. It offers support in these times of need. A founding principle is to work with Palestinians to deliver projects which they have identified and support.

FONSA was established to strengthen links with the people of Nablus and its surrounding areas. It operates under a Trust Deed signed in 2007.

We use VirginMoneyGiving (VMG) because it is a non-profit organisation supporting charities in their work.
We paid a one-off £150 to join VMG but there are no monthly fees. VMG charges us for the cost of processing credit and debit card transactions (about 1.5% at time of writing). For eligible donations they also collect Gift Aid for us.
They charge a 2% transaction fee to cover their running costs. This is far less than sites like JustGiving which, as a for-profit company, charges 5% fees on top of the credit/debit card transactions and they have a monthly fee.
So for a £100 donation, eligible for Gift Aid, via VirginMoneyGiving, the net benefit to FONSA would be £120.95.
JustGiving has higher charges to the equivalent figure for a £100 donation via JustGiving is £110.30.
In other words, using VirginMoneyGiving instead of JustGiving saves FONSA £10.65 on every £100 donated online.

FONSA saves £10.65 with VirginMoneyGiving compared with JustGiving.
Note 1: Estimated figure. FONSA paid a fee to join VMG so this is factored in. Say we raise £3,000 per year for at least 10 years the £150+VAT = £180 joining fee has effectively been a charge of 60p for each £100 donated.
Just Giving has no joining fee but it has a monthly charge of £15 + VAT
which is £216 per year (inc VAT).
If FONSA raises £3,000 online per year via Just Giving then for every £100 donation, the cost to FONSA is £7.20 (this is £216 divided by £3,000 times £100).
(to look at it another way, if we paid £7.20 for each £100 donated via JustGiving, the annual cost of raising £3,000 would be £7.20 x 30 = £216.)
